The Khal Chassidim shul of Ramat Beit Shemesh serves as the focal point for people from across the spectrum of the RBS community, thanks to its Rav , Rabbi Davidovitz, shlita. Whether Chassidish or Litvish, Ashkenazic, Sefardic or Dati Leumi, they all know that when they have a halachic question, no matter the subject, Rav Davidovitz is the posek they turn to.

Among his many responsibilities, he works tirelessly to oversee the kashrus of the community mikvahs and eiruvs. This is his official job; but everything is done fully voluntarily.     

For the past two decades, his shul has been housed in an old, crumbling structure, with thin walls and sloping ceilings. Every Shabbos, mispallelim crowd into the small building, some forced to stand from lack of space. 

Now, a fundraising campaign has been launched to finally build a new shul building – a building that is befitting a leading rav and posek of the community. 

Right now, each of us has a unique opportunity to express our hakaras hatov for Rav Davidovitz.  So many of us have turned to him over the years for his piskei halacha; so many of us have come to rely on his guidance and eitzos; and all of us appreciate that when a shayla comes up, no matter where we daven or what kehilla we belong to, we always have a posek to turn to.      

In the new shul building, there will be a dedicated room for hora’ah, where people can meet with the rav and get answers to their shaylos in a pleasant, dignified atmosphere – as befitting a makom Torah.

Rav Davidovitz has dedicated the past 20 years to leading our community, and bez”H plans to continue leading us for many years to come.  Now is our chance to give something back to him.
