Twenty-two years ago I first held my tiny, newly born, sweet and soft baby; I kissed her - and she was immediately whisked away. Little Malky entered the operating room when she was only 8 hours old, and although the surgery saved her life, she remained paralyzed in both legs.

Even before the surgery, I had managed to whisper in her ear: You will have a happy, fulfilling life. We will do everything to make you happy.

The first years were challenging - re-hospitalizations, many surgeries. After each surgery Malky would smile at the future with hope and optimism. She had something to look forward to, a rich and varied life: studies, social life, swimming, horseback riding, hand-bike riding. There were many days that Malky enjoyed to the fullest.

Malky successfully completed elementary and high school, where her strong desire took her far; she is surrounded by devoted friends and leads a rich social life. She is completely independent - moves freely in her wheelchair, goes shopping, and spends time with friends. She is also an excellent swimmer. We built a small kitchen especially for her so she can bake and cook. She works as a librarian and typist, and even engages in art in her spare time.

A few weeks ago, Malky got engaged to a שמים ירא, a בחור חסידישע, a pleasant- mannered boy, also confined to a wheelchair and leading a completely independent life. Ever since she was very young, Malky has been looking forward to the day when she will be part of the chain of generations and establish a home for G-d and His teachings.

It is the dream that gave her the strength to move forward and strive.

In order to get married, the couple needs an accessible ground floor apartment, adapted to the needs of two disabled people. Only in this way will they be able to lead an independent life and raise, with Hashem's help, upright generations.

However such an apartment costs a fortune.

And we, who promised our Malky to do everything for her - are now turning to you – compassionate, merciful Jews - to help us with this huge expense.
